Castell Alun (Hope) Sports Centre to Close

Unfortunately, the Community Council has received the following information from Aura who manage the Sports Centre:

Aura Leisure and Libraries Limited is a charitable, not-for-profit, independent organisation.

The decision to withdraw from providing services at Castell Alun (Hope) Sports Centre was taken by Aura’s Board, this strategic decision was based on the site's minimal usage and escalating losses.

Due to the unprecedented rise in utility costs, National Living Wage and general inflation, Aura is having to take some difficult decisions. The cost of operating the sports centre at Castell Alun is now far higher than the income Aura can generate; a situation which is unsustainable.

Aura, through its Active Communities Team, will continue to support and deliver physical activity and sporting provision to the Hope community through its active community programmes and extra-curricular delivery.

As it now looks unlikely the school will offer the sports facilities for hire, Aura is making contact directly with all customers to discuss potential options to relocate their booking.
