Hope Council support Flintshire Foodbank
Each year the Chair of the Council has the opportunity to donate £250 to a charity of their choice. Given this year has been so difficult, we looked about for something to make a difference locally.
It was agreed that along with the Chairman's charitable donation the Council would donate £200 and we would buy food from local retailers to donate to Flintshire Foodbank. We saw this as a way of supporting those most in need in our area as well as supporting local businesses in such difficult times.
We couldn't have imagined the generosity that has been demonstrated by those businesses. Hope Community Council would like to extend their thanks and gratitude to the local businesses who went above and beyond with their generosity which helped to add to our original donation. Some of whom let us buy at cost and all generously added above and beyond what we ordered. Even the staff at the filling station in Caergwrle added a box full of their own additional donations.
As a Community Council we cannot thank enough Mary’s High Street Caergwrle, The Hub Fagl Lane, Caergwrle filling station, The Spar and The Co-Op. Our local businesses have done us proud. The result of which amounted to over 400kg donation to Flintshire Foodbank which resulted in a lot of full car journeys to Mold which was wildly beyond our expectations.
Even our advertising the Christmas Foodbank advent on Facebook to be dropped off with us resulted in some wonderfully kind donations for us to take along with the business and the Council's donations.
We would like to thank everyone in our Community who donated.
Whilst it is a sad reflection of the times we live in that we even need foodbanks they are a life line for many in such difficult times.
