Reintroduction of car parking charges

A message from Flintshire County Council.

I am writing to inform you that car parking charges in Flintshire’s off-street car parks will be reintroduced on 1st October 2021.

In line with government guidance and to assist all key workers during the COVID-19 pandemic, parking has been free in Council operated car parks since March 2020.  The charges remained suspended to help local businesses as they came out of lockdown last summer and this continued into the autumn and winter. This was extended subsequently to September 2021 to support the gradual opening and recovery of the town centres and to encourage footfall.  Now, as more businesses reopen, we will be reinstating parking charges to ease potential congestion and help with access to the short-stay car parks.

Since 1 July 2021 charges have applied in Talacre, the County’s main tourist destination, in anticipation of the increased visitor numbers ahead of the school holiday season and the need to ensure availability of spaces throughout the day.

All car parks will be clearly signed to ensure that customers are aware of the need to pay and display, and we will promote this reintroduction of policy via the press, website and social media over the coming days.

Further information on parking and enforcement can be found on the Council’s website:
