Sexual Harassment in Schools
The Council has become aware of the prevalence of allegations of sexual harassment in Primary and Secondary schools throughout England and Wales. We wanted to raise awareness of this important issue locally.
The Council have been in contact with the Police and FCC who are fully aware and are taking appropriate action. We have also been informed that Estyn had been asked to conduct a review locally and the results are due to be out in December. Meanwhile, according to the Minister for Education, every possible precaution is being taken to ensure pupils’ safety and wellbeing.
This is obviously a very concerning issue and one that we all need to be aware of to help, where we can, in stamping out such behaviour and to support those victims of sexual harassment.
